East Sussex examples
East Sussex has some very interesting fingerpost examples, which remain on more major roads as well as the minor lanes. As a rule fingerposts in East Sussex consist of:
- Octagonal wooden posts painted white with a cast metal crown painted black
- Wooden arms for destination names and mileage, with a square end and scalloped corners
- Mileage to the destinations are given to the nearest quarter mile.
Arms pointing along classified roads often have the road number as a bulge out of the top of the arm.
