Fingerposts in Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire examples
Few historic fingerposts appear to remain - at least in the south of the county. Where they do exist they are of very sturdy construction, as follows:
- Octagonal metal posts painted in bands of balck and white
- Posts topped with a white roundel with the word 'Gloucester' in the top half and 'County' in the bottom half
- Square ended metal arms for destination names and mileage
- Mileage to the destinations are given to the nearest quarter mile.
